Built over 22 years ago, Dee Why RSL’s northern car park received a significant LED lighting upgrade to improve energy efficiency, reduce maintenance costs, and enhance safety. The project replaced outdated fluorescent fixtures and faulty wiring in the 3-level car park and fire stairs with efficient Vico battens and Mirador exit lights, providing consistent lighting and ensuring compliance with safety standards.

Project Overview

Dee Why RSL sought to improve energy efficiency and safety across its 3-level car park and fire stairs. The existing lighting system, consisting of 358 fluorescent battens and 34 emergency fluorescent battens, was outdated and consumed excessive energy. enLighten, in collaboration with All Clear Electrical Services, delivered a comprehensive upgrade, replacing the old fixtures with 201 Vico 22W battens and 37 Mirador Exit SC lights.

The new LED lighting system not only significantly reduced energy consumption but also provided enhanced visibility and safety for patrons, while minimising light spill into the surrounding residential area.

The Solution

The project involved a complete re-design of the entire lighting system including the emergency lighting, which had previously been non-compliant with AS2293 standards. New lighting circuits were also installed to address issues caused by the negligence of previous contractors. The efficient Vico batten, equipped with sensor technology, reduced energy consumption by dimming when spaces were unoccupied, and helped minimise light spill into neighbouring houses. Additionally, test samples were installed to ensure performance before the full upgrade.
